Near and L because they use their heads. And they fight for justice unlike Light. Another reason: They have nice hair.

He is addicated to apples and is the one to to the job on light which is pretty cool at the end , you know also how he just flys around and no one can see him unless they touched his death note wicked rule may I amity

Favorite is definetly L. He's the smartest, he's the world's greatest detective at such a young age and he's cool and funny (sort of) also. 
And then there's Rem. I love Rem! The way Rem was created is so cool! Least favorite character is Misa. I don't even know where to start ... I'll just stick with that.
